ROADMap Systems has just closed its seed round. Over $625k was raised from international institutional and private investors. The company has recently spun-out from the Centre for Advanced Photonics and Electronics at the University of Cambridge and has acquired exclusive access to patents and know-how in the field of Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCOS) devices for the development of Wavelength Selective Switches. These switches are key components in the fast growing $5B Reconfigurable Add Drop Multiplexer market. ROADMs allow optical plane switching of wavelength channels which is a capability demanded by Software Defined Networking.
