Lead Software Engineer

We are seeking an enthusiastic engineer to join our team in developing the next generation of world-leading optical switching technology. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience and knowledge in the following areas.

Managing a small software development team

Constructing a development program; Logically distributing development and test tasks to the team members; Reporting on and tracking dependencies with pro-active resolution of potential slippages; Actively involving hardware, photonics and commercial teams in resolution of requirements ambiguity or technical issues

Creating a professional SW development Environment

Ensuring the component SW modules are fit for purpose, adequately tested at designer level; Ensuring the software build is controlled with process to control impacts on stability; Ensuring that the components and stream are adequately versioned and controlled; Ensuring all software is adequately documented and controlled

Providing technical leadership within the development program

Building a code base on a Windows development environment with portability to other environments including RTOS and Linux; Ensuring no hardware or operating system dependencies in the finished design; Architecting the SW system with regard to the existing and emerging HW environment, testability, use of standards, portability and with attention to complexity, timescales and commercial acceptability

Knowledge of or experience with test equipment software and interfaces to hardware would be an advantage.  Also, knowledge of or experience with graphics drivers and graphics card hardware would also be advantageous.

Location: St John’s Innovation Centre, Cambridge.
Position type: Full time, permanent role.
Salary: Dependent on experience. The company has a share option incentive scheme.
